Grow Kit Instructions
Blue Oyster Mushroom Grow Kit
Please refrain from unwrapping the bag, as it will result in the block drying out and ultimately reducing your yield.
Instead, follow these steps for optimal growth:
1. Make a 6" incision on the side of the bag, ensuring that the gash is facing upward.
2. Wrap the excess plastic tightly around the top of the block and tuck it underneath. This will create a favorable environment for the mushrooms to grow. As they develop, you may need to slightly enlarge the gash.
3. It's possible that additional mushrooms may start growing beneath the plastic. Allow these to wither and die so that the block can produce one large cluster of mushrooms.
4. Find a humid location to place the block and remember to spritz it with water 3-7 times a day. These mushrooms thrive when provided with ample moisture.
5. After approximately 2-5 days, you should start seeing mushrooms emerging from the block. They will double in size each day.
6. Harvest the mushrooms when they reach the appropriate stage, which is typically around 7-10 days. Look for curled edges and lightening caps as indications of readiness. To harvest, simply use your hands to gently pull the entire clump off the grow block.

To ensure optimal growth and yield, please follow these steps:
1. Avoid unwrapping the bag, as it can lead to the block drying out and reducing your overall yield.
2. Slice a 6" gash on the side of the bag, making sure the gash faces upward. This will serve as the point from which the mushrooms will grow.
3. Wrap the excess plastic tightly around the top of the block and tuck it underneath. This will create a favorable environment for mushroom growth. As the mushrooms start developing, you may need to slightly expand the gash to accommodate their growth. Any additional mushrooms growing under the plastic should be left to die, allowing the block to produce one large cluster of mushrooms.
4. Find a humid location to place the block and make sure to spritz it with water 3-7 times a day. These mushrooms thrive when provided with an ample water supply.
5. After about 3-7 days, you will start seeing mushrooms emerging from the block. It will take approximately 14-21 days for them to be ready for harvest. Look for spines or hairs as indicators of readiness. Once the spines reach about 1/4 inch in length, you can use your hands to gently pull the entire clump of mushrooms off the grow block at once.

Please follow these revised steps for the best results:
1. Carefully remove the entire block from the bag.
2. Place the block on a tray or in a pan to catch any excess water or moisture.
3. If your home has an extremely dry environment, loosely cover the block with a plastic bag to help maintain humidity.
4. Find a suitable humid place for the block, such as the kitchen counter, and make sure to spritz it with water 3-7 times a day. Adjust the frequency based on the dryness of the air. Remember, the drier the air, the more water the mushrooms will need.
5. Within 2-5 days, you should start to see mushrooms emerging from the block. The time to harvest will typically be around 6-9 days. Keep in mind that warmer spaces tend to accelerate mushroom growth.
6. When the mushrooms appear plump and delicious but before the caps begin to flatten, they are ready to be harvested. Use a paring knife to carefully harvest the mushrooms from the block.
Following these steps will help ensure a successful mushroom-growing experience.
